POLITICS THAT DEFINE THE TAPESTRY OF WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A GLOBAL CITIZEN

My name is Khurram Farooquie...my friends call me Kory

When you grow up emigrating to multiple different cultures in 4 different countries in 3 different continents, attend 11 different schools and move 20 times without running away from the law all while hovering over cultural boundaries, you get a sense of humanity outside the confines of race, religion, sex and a forced induction of a political mindset.  You end up with a bird’s eye view of humanity; a humanity that is a single species agnostic of borders, race, religious and political affiliations – a view that finds the comical in our few divisions and the satirical irony in people’s ardent defense of what divides them.

This is my story….these are my thoughts….I have shared them over many many years….I have debated some and educated some….I have learnt something from every interaction….I have been frustrated but more importantly have been humbled.  This blog is my journey into codifying these thoughts and engaging in a broader debate.

Contemporary politics is my passion, humanism is my religion and finding a pluralistic commonality through man-made divisions is the legacy that I would love to leave behind.

“My life has been a tapestry of rich and royal hue, an everlasting vision of the ever changing view.”  – Carole King

Culture makes people understand each other better. And if they understand each other better in their soul, it is easier to overcome the economic and political barriers. But first they have to understand that their neighbor is, in the end, just like them, with the same problems, the same questions.  – Paulo Coelho
